Odyssey Institute — learning, teams and the outdoors

Social entrepreneur · Experiential educator

I build ethical things that connect people
with experiences, resources and opportunities.

I’ve spent almost 30 years designing experiences and contributing to projects that sometimes become businesses. Most of them are concerned with education, youth, travel, adventure and the natural world.

Current work

Odyssey Institute

Experiential education in Indonesia — learning adventures for schools and young people.

New ventures

EcoLibrium

An ed. tech platform that facilitates learning about ecology and leadership through interactive gameplay in simulated ecosystems.

A little history

I’ve been an aid worker, anthropologist, educator, traveller and youth worker. Entrepreneurship became a way to turn ideas I cared about into things that could actually exist.

In Indonesia, that started with the creation of Green Camp at the Green School and led to Odyssey Institute and 15 years spent designing experiences, building teams and creating an organisation passionate about real-world learning.

I’m still building — and still interested in people with unusually good ideas who are prepared to test them in the real world.
